About This Home

This is a lovely 3 bedroom, 2 bath 1920s Craftsman bungalow for sale or lease in Atlanta's historic Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. Built circa 1921, this home has been completely renovated but retains its original charm with 4 wood-burning fireplaces, high ceilings, and gleaming hardwood floors. It features: a rocking chair front porch; large entry foyer to wide central hallway; bright living room with bay window and fireplace; upgraded eat-in kitchen with maple cabinets, granite countertops, and travertine tile backsplash; and a big laundry room open to a mudroom with door to large, fenced backyard. There are 2 bedroom suites. The master suite features a walk-in closet, 2 reach-in closets, and private master bath with oversized vanity, jetted corner tub, and separate shower. The 2nd bedroom suite has a private door into the renovated hall bathroom. Pocket doors from the foyer open to the 3rd bedroom, which could also be used as a formal living, dining room, or office if you prefer. This home has a fully-fenced, level backyard and alley access to off-street parking.

This property is located in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood, which is just east of Downtown, west of Inman Park, south of Virginia-Highland, and north of Grant Park. It is an exceptionally convenient area. From here, it's a quick hop into downtown with easy access to most any part of the metro area via I-75/85, GA 400, and I-20. This part of town has been undergoing a renaissance since the mid-1990s, spurred on by development around City Hall East (on North Avenue); Studioplex (on Auburn Avenue); and lots of development (residential and commercial) on Highland Avenue including the new Inman Park Village mixed use development. Popular restaurants in the area include: Two Urban Licks, Sotto Sotto, Fritti, Rathbun's, and Grape. There are new shops and restaurants along Edgewood Avenue (including the very popular Thumbs Up Cafe) with new projects both underway and proposed. City Hall East (originally the Sears, Roebuck building), which sits at the boundary between the Old Fourth Ward and Midtown neighborhoods, is also about to be redeveloped into a large new multi-use development known as Ponce Park.

The Freedom Park trail of The Path (a multi-use urban trail popular among intown walkers, runners, cyclists and bladers) runs through the neighborhood and connects to Inman Park, Candler Park, and Druid Hills to Decatur and beyond. There are a number of parks within a short drive of this location. The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site (including the King Center) is just a few blocks away. [More info.] The neighboring Inman Park community features Springvale Park -- site of the neighborhood's annual Spring festival. A bit further east you'll find Candler Park (with public golf course and swimming pool) and Goldsboro Park (with tennis and basketball courts). Piedmont Park, Atlanta's largest and the home to many festivals and arts events is just about 2 miles north of this home, the Georgia Aquarium is just down Ralph McGill Blvd., and Grant Park (home to Zoo Atlanta) is only about one mile south. The Old Fourth Ward is also on the proposed Beltline that will link intown neighborhoods with a trolley system and add a number of new parks to the area (including a major new park near City Hall East).
